Dandelions are the weeds that break through concrete to reach the sun.
They can grow anywhere and through anything.
I want to make an impact directly, as a queer disabled femme,
and indirectly by tangibly supporting and collaborating with artists in other excluded communities.
You may be wondering, (probably not but I needed a segue) why dandelions?
Is the responsibility and opportunity artists and writers have as culture-creators.
Just as product placement, narrative ads, and campaigns affect audiences’ beliefs and subsequent actions, so too does fictional media, whether it is intentional or not.
It’s not just a matter of representation, but of the dictation it has on how real-life humans are treated daily.
With the same kind of love in collecting postcards and teacups,
I collect skills and the tears of people who’ve cried over an emotional connection to my art. (22 and counting*)
My creative approach starts with finding a project’s boundaries and exploring anti-disciplinary solutions, from emerging media to historical techniques, in order to convert them into supporting pillars of the work.
